The Perfect Chemistry: Why Wood & Wax? This collection is actually the best-performing solid cologne we make. Why? Because wood, spice, and leather notes are "Base Notes." They are heavy, slow-moving molecules. While these notes can sometimes struggle to project in an alcohol spray, they thrive in a wax base. The Profile: We went truly old school with this blend. Using only essential oils, this is what Bay Rum is supposed to smell like—no synthetic candy notes here.
