how to use it
This soap loves water.
- Soak: Wet your brush thoroughly. If you are using boar or badger, let it soak for about a minute first.
- Load: Swirl directly on the puck for about 30 seconds until a thick, paste-like proto-lather forms.
- Lather: Build the lather on your face and add drops of water as needed until it becomes dense, slick, and yogurt-like.

I started using this shaving soap about 10 years ago and it is still one of my favorites. I’ve tried both the Rustic Shaving Soap and the Formula T soap, and I have a preference for the Rustic, it lathers great, rinses off cleanly and I feel it leads to a great shave. The scent is wonderful and makes the shaving task a wonderful event.
I was so excited to try this limited edition scent that I bought 2. The ingredient list had me confident that this would a favorite.
Unfortunately, there was no scent at all in both 4oz tins. Very disappointing. When I reached out to customer service, I asked them about this and if I could try another 2 and send back the ones I got. My questions were ignored and I got some cut and paste generic response that had nothing to do with my questions.
Anyways, I sent them back, got a credit and bought some other products instead. Mahogany is hands down the best of the 5 scents I tried. Black Amber Vanille is a song 2nd.
Great product lasts a long time lathers up very nicely again not a overpowering scent
great soap!! thick lather that is there to the last stroke of the razor. the scent is "man cave" woods and leather with a hint of sweet.
Imagine the smell of a gentleman’s study in a Victorian manor. Leather bound books about History and warfare, oil paintings of fox hunts and dead relatives, an obligatory stag head over the grand hearth, and of course dark, oiled mahogany furniture. Now take that scent, and add it to the most fantastic shave soap and aftershave on Earth, and you get the idea.
The scent is fantastic and the lather feels great. Major step up from canned foam/gel shaving creams.
The fragrance and the lather are the best. The only issue I have is that I wanted to put it into my nice shaving mug. I had to scoop it out with a spoon and press it into the mug. Other shave soaps I've purchased were solid and could easily be placed in a mug. It's a minor complaint. Now that I have it in the mug, and am using it daily, I'm crazy about it.
I have four of these soap now and they are the best that I have come across. They lather well and extremely fast. And the scents which are the best I have come across are even made better do to the fact that I am smelling them in the air 8 to even 12 hours long. That is 8 to 10 hour MORE than some of the soaps that I have purchased from other vendors. Keep up the good work Lee... your the best around.
I ordered a few sample sizes to check out the smells. Mahogany might be the end of my search for the perfect soap. It's gender neutral but feminine enough for me...I'm a lady. It's sweet and creamy with a hint of spice and wood. Perfect lather and left my skin soft enough I didn't need moisturizer. I'm looking forward to trying the formula T in the near future and will probably buy a full size tin. I also got blackbeard which I'm sure is as great of quality but to me it smells kind of like spicy beer. Not great to me but I'll probably use it to see how it is lathered. I also got tobacco which smells amazing for a man. Very much a modern men's cologne smell. Not at all what I expected but I'd love to smell it on a man. I previously bought the vetiver and I think it just smells like soap but the quality was so good I had to check out the other scents. Also they included a sample sizes bath soap and accidentally sent the Mahogany in rustic formula instead of formula T which is what I ordered and they sent me a new one the next day. Excellent soaps and excellent customer service. I love WSP :)
I've got the Starbucks shave soap and I love the uniqueness of the scent. It's good early morning shave scent. It is really nice. The soap lathers up really nicely too and leaves my face soft. Good Job on this scent!
I recently purchased a puck of Vetiver and from the first smell it became my favorite shave soap (and I have nearly a dozen soap varieties, most of them artisan soaps). The performance is excellent too - very slick, good cushion, great post-shave feel and smells fantastic! I was so impressed I made a follow-up purchase of Mahogany shave soap. Mahogany smells great too.
I'll be trying the aftershaves and cologne in the coming weeks. Definitely some great products!
I have tried a few different shave soaps, mostly artisan made, and this is the best I have tried so far. I bought the Mahogany scent and it is a great scent, not overpowering. The soap lathers easily, especially with the hard water we have here. It is the first soap that has allowed me to get a smooth shave on my difficult neck area without any razor burn! It has great cushion and slickness. I am awaiting a tin of the T formula, Ol' Kentucky scent and will report on that once I try it, but am expecting it to be excellent also. I will purchase more soaps from this fine company.
I ordered 7 different scents and they are all amazing. I got black amber vanille, blackbeard, mahogany, matterhorn, sandalrose, sandalwood, and starbucks. All of them have a great scent but are not overpowering. These soaps lather very easily, have great cushion, and slickness for days. The lather does not dissipated even after a third pass. And the customer service is EXCELLENT!!!! They even sent me a free damaged bottle of their aftershave just for me to try out(cap of the bottle had a huge crack in it). I would highly recommend ANY of their products, weither it is a brush, razor, shave soap, aftershave, body soap, or anything else. WSP is a company that truly cares about their price point being fair and having superb customer service.
