This soap loves water.
- Soak: Wet your brush thoroughly. If you are using boar or badger, let it soak for about a minute first.
- Load: Swirl directly on the puck for about 30 seconds until a thick, paste-like proto-lather forms.
- Lather: Build the lather on your face and add drops of water as needed until it becomes dense, slick, and yogurt-like.

Another scent that I love from WSP. I prefer the Rustic Shaving Soap to the Formula T, it just feels a little lighter to me and rinses off cleanly. Part of a great shave!
I’ve been using this shaving soap for years and at this point it’s an essential part of my morning routine. Good lather, good glide, easy rinse when done. The only thing holding back from five stars is that the scent does not stay as strong from the first shave to the last, and that if you keep the lid on the puck and don’t let it dry out between uses it turns to goo and doesn’t last as long. But since no other company has beat rose problems either, it’s a quandary for the ages.
Do recommend, and highly.

The scent of this soap is so sweet! Not too warn, not feminine at all. The first time I smelt it, I wanted to eat it. The vanille is very present, but the amber and musk arrive to masculinise the scent. One of my favorite !
The soap has the same properties than the tallow base, but it’s a vegan! Awesome. The slickness is perfect, and no need to use a lot of watter, it lathers quickly. Once again, WSP is at the top.
Really great scent. Great lather. It’s hard to have a Rustic favorite. They all are unique and each with their own character. This one is definitely one of my favorites. Right up there with the Black Beard. Will keep this one in my rotation for sure.

This was my first rustic soap from WSP; I also have some Formula T. I was amazed at the speed and quantity of lather I can get with this stuff, it outperforms the T! Thick, smooth cream, plenty left on the brush for second and third passes. The Blackbeard scent is great; it takes on a different character once you hit it with water and let it blossom. I was concerned it smelled like honey when I opened the tin the first time, but that opened up into deep woodsy tobacco and cherry on the brush. Excellent soap!
A light vanilla scent with a bit of musk. It's very pleasant and intriguing. The lather is fantastic and it glides well. Love it!
I have been a die-hard fan of Proraso and some other soaps that we overly priced. I loved the story behind this Company and thought i'd give it a shot. Wow! A little water and a clean silver tip and it was like a foam cannon went off in my bowl! The lather is rich, thick, and super smooth. The cushion is like silk only better! The scent notes are perfect. I had enough lather for probably 6 to 8 passes total, maybe more! Once finished, I laughed like a pirate and threw all my other soaps overboard into the deep dark trash! I will never take a blade to my face again without WSP Blackbeard!

I have 4 soaps, 4 aftershaves, 3 beard oils and 2 beard balms from this company and nothing, I repent NOTHING has disappointed me except for one thing.. Everything that I have tried from this company is superior in every way but why Lee, why can't I find this sent in any thing but the rustic soap. I would love to have a full set of Soap, Aftershave, Beard Oil and Beard balm but it is ONLY to be found in the Soap. This scent is to good to be monopolized by the soap alone. Please share it among your other products as well.
As a shaving soap, WSP is great.They rank with Soap Commander, Barrister and Mann, Castle Forbes, PAA, D H Harris or Catie's Bubbles for quality of product. For Customer service...Well...Soap Commander is probably their only rival in that category and to pick one of them over the other would be splitting hairs. I really love a lot of SC products but if Black Amber Vanille was a woman, my wife might have something to worry about. It is in a 4 way tie for my favorite scent.
WSP soaps lather best in soft water but do well in harder water w/o needing distilled water or a pinch of citric acid in the tap water as many quality soaps seem to need. If you go back to Proraso because MWF or DH Harris just won't lather it may be the hardness of your water. WSP works better in soft water but still does pretty good in harder water. Smooth and slick with a good face feel. They also make a tiny travel tin which is perfect for trips. It will last for weeks. Perfect for business trips or vacations when space and weight are at a premium.

Loving the Black Beard! Really great scent. I've tried the Tabacco too. They both are excellent. The Black Beard is bold but not overpowering. Stoked on the quality of these soaps. Good on the slickness and cushion. I'm looking forward to trying more. Cheers WSP!
